Mission
Protecting the health, welfare, and value of our Nation’s plants, animals, and natural resources.
We protect the health of U.S. agriculture and natural resources against invasive pests and diseases, regulate genetically engineered crops, administer the Animal Welfare Act, and help people and wildlife coexist. We also certify the health of U.S. agricultural exports and resolve phytosanitary and sanitary issues to open, expand, and maintain markets for U.S plant and animal products.
Key to APHIS’ mission is work conducted at scientific and laboratory facilities around the United States and the world. Maintaining the condition and functionality of these facilities is an ongoing process that demands significant management of capital resources. APHIS developed a Capital Asset Improvement Plan to strategically prioritize its facility needs.
